How we got started

Target Training and Consultancy Services (TTCS) is a locally owned (Bougainvillean) small and new business that specializes in training and consultancy services in the areas of Teacher Education for Secondary in Papua New Guinea (PNG) as well as Early Childhood Education, Hospitality and Tourism, Business, Technical Trades such as motor mechanics and welding and fabrication and heavy equipment. It is new and started with a small capital investment worth approximately K20,000.00. Currently it offers training in the abovementioned programs in Arawa, Bougainville and Port Moresby City.

TTCS was registered with the Papua New Guinea Investment Promotion Authority (PNGIPA) in 2012. It is currently working step by step towards becoming a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) under the Department of Education for Training Early Childhood Teachers and the National Training Council (NTC) for trade programs. It started offering training in Early Childhood Education in 2014 to elementary teachers of which 19 pioneering students have graduated this year with a Certificate of Early Childhood Education and another 11 to graduate soon. To date (16th August), TTCS has trained and is training a total of 120+ young people on Bougainville. 2017 calendar looks good with more people are submitting their applications for various programs from North and South Bougainville areas. Its Head Office is located in Suite 6, Arevai Trading Ltd Building in Arawa, Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

Chief Executive Officer

Dr Dinah Dovona-Ope is the Director who holds a PhD degree in educational psychology from South Queensland University of Australia and a former senior lecturer and head of Educational Studies Division at Goroka University. Also, she is a training and development specialist in teacher education (Early Childhood Education & Secondary Teacher Education) of 14 years’ experience and owner of the organisation.

Secretary

Mr. Aka Ope is the Organisation Secretary and holds a Master in Business Administration at Charles Stuart University and also Diploma in Human Resources from Adelaide TAFE and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Lae Technical College in Papua New Guinea, and a. Also, he is a training and development specialist (hydro power generation and mining industries) in Papua New Guinea for 23 years, held senior management roles in training and development for 12 years and also joint owner.

Early Childhood Education and Hospitality and Tourism Division

Team Leader and Consultant

Dr. Dinah Dovona-Ope leads this division in designing certificate programs in Early Childhood Education and Hospitality and Tourism, developing business plans and marketing flyers, and supervises all training.

 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Section

ECE Senior Trainer

Ms. Martha Tarah holds a Diploma of Early Childhood Teacher Education from University of Goroka in PNG and former elementary teacher. She is a Full-time Trainer and Assessor for Early Childhood Education located in Port Moresby City, Papua New Guinea.

ECE Trainer

Ms. Jessica Itta holds a Diploma of Early Childhood Teacher Education from University of Goroka in Papua New Guinea and Full-time Trainer and Assessor for Early Childhood Education located in Central Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.

ECE Trainer

Ms. Margaret Bade holds a Diploma of Early Childhood Teacher Education from University of Goroka and a former elementary teacher with Papua New Guinea national education department. She is a Full-time Trainer and Assessor for Early Childhood Education located at North Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.

ECE Trainer

Mr. Jeremiah Lenge holds a Diploma of Secondary Teacher Education from Goroka University in PNG, former Principal of Arawa High School and has vast experiences in high school teaching. This position purposes is to monitor and support our graduates and early childhood learning schools are maintaining the standards and practices.

Hospitality and Tourism (H & T) Section

Part-time Consultant Trainer

 

Ms. Doreen Lofa holds a Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, from University of Goroka and House Keeping Manager at Airway Hotel in Port Moresby City. She is involved to teach students the management modules of the program.

 H & T Part time Trainer

 

Ms. Naomi Tupana holds a Diploma of Hospitality and Tourism Management rom University of Goroka and a former tutor at Lae Poly Technical College. She is engaged when the course is conducted for local people in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.

Technical Vocational Employment Training

Team Leader and Consultant

Mr. Aka Ope provides leadership in the designing of certificate programs in the technical and management areas, developing marketing flyers, and supervises all technical training.

Part-time Motor Mechanic Trainer

 

Mr. Daniel Geseng holds a Certificate in Vocational School teacher with PNG Education Department, a competent trade person in motor mechanic trade and former vocational teacher. He has worked few prominence companies and vocational schools in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. With low enrolment, he is tagged a potential local trainer and will be engaged in 2017 schedule program to train students are attending block programs.

Part-time Welding and Fabrication Trainer

 

Mr. John Beaso holds a Certificate Welding and Fabrication and a competent trade person and with vast experiences in the construction and the mining industry. With low enrolment this course are reschedule for 2017. He is tagged as a potential local trainer and will be engaged in 2017 program to train students.

Part-time Earth Extraction Equipment Operation Trainer

 

Mr. John Massconi holds Certificate in Heavy machinery operation, a competent trade person and has operated various machinery from a haul truck, dozer, grader, loader and excavator. He has worked few prominence road contractors and companies in Oil Palm, Timber and Mining industries in Papua New Guinea. He is engaged temporary to train students when the program.

Management and Leadership Trainer

 

Mr. Aka Ope holds a Diploma in Human Resource Management from Adelaide TAFE, Australia and Diploma in Technical Teaching from Goroka University in Papua New Guinea. In his capacity as training coordinator has conducted workplace supervision and leadership course aimed to increase performance at operation level. Designing course modules to commence in 2017.

Office and Administrative Staffs

Operation Manager

Mr. Aka Ope is undertaking this role while leading the TVET section. This role involves managing the daily organisation operations, and reports to Chief Executive Officer of Target Training and Consultancy Services.

Office Administrator

Ms. Adelaide Judith Ope reports to Operation Manager and manages the office tasks and procedures, manages the front desk customer services for clients and performs other tasks that are given by training personnel.

Finance Officer

This person reports to Operation Manager. Currently, Office Administrator is undertaking the responsibilities of pay roll, banking, course fees accounts management and finance reporting and manages accounting software system.
